Mission

Denton Music and Art Collaborative (DMAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. DMAC intends to achieve the preservation, promotion, and continuation of the unique and culturally significant musical and artistic heritage of Denton through programs aimed at improving the lives and livelihoods of local musicians and artists and encouraging new musicians and artists to thrive and put down roots in Denton. We’re supported by our local community through numerous fundraisers and annual events and through other donations.

Vision

Denton Music and Art Collaborative (DMAC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to preserve the cultural integrity of Denton by enabling musicians and artists to continue to thrive here, namely by subsidizing healthcare coverage.

Our Story

In early 2017, a dedicated group of people assembled in a living room to figure out ways of helping Denton creatives thrive. After working on staff for the Denton music festival 35 Denton, these dozen or so folks had formed a family-like bond and wanted to continue furthering the success of Little D’s creative community. A few weeks after that first meeting, the founding members of what would become the Denton Music and Art Collaborative held board elections, filled out paperwork and by June of that year, the organization was officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Since then, DMAC has provided support for local musicians and artists, namely through healthcare coverage, and hopes to help as many artists as possible continue to call Denton home. Nic Bagherpour served as President of DMAC from the beginning until Jennifer Kapinos became President in 2024, and the organization wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and vision of other original board members including Wally Campbell, Matt Mars, and the late Andy Knapik, who is credited for DMAC’s name.
